ABOUT MAM:

Founded in 1991, Medical Accounts Management began by serving individual clients throughout the region. Our primary clients were seniors and chronic care patients who needed help navigating the healthcare maze.

As we developed specialized skills and resources, the company grew, expanding its operations to a national level and serving a variety of clients. Today we offer comprehensive, targeted services to employers, brokers, financial advisors and their clients. We provide custom-tailored management of healthcare benefits, including advocacy, regulatory compliance, and consulting.

Medical Accounts Management was founded by its president, Margaret J. Smith. With wide experience in the field of healthcare plan management, Ms. Smith is considered a leading authority on Medicare and other benefit issues. She has been featured in regional and national publications, and is a highly sought lecturer on Medicare, retiree insurance issues, and advocacy.

Other key members of the MAM team are:

Doug Smith – Mr. Smith directs MAM’s overall operations. He came to MAM in 1999 from Colliers bringing years of financial and operational experience. Mr. Smith is a licensed Certified Public Accountant, having also worked at KPMG Peat Marwick.

David Hines – Mr. Hines handles Health Plan Compliance and Consulting Services. He formerly managed employee and retiree benefit plans for the State of Tennessee and Nissan, and prior to that was a claims and customer service manager for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee.

Richard D. Pinson, MD – Dr. Pinson serves as MAM’s Medical Advisor and oversees medical determination coordination for the Appeals Management Services and the HEALTH COACHING™ services. Licensed in Tennessee and board certified in Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine, Dr. Pinson also lends his 30 years of medical experience and expertise to the Advocacy Services.
